Lancaster, SC (Sept. 20) - Ricky Weeks made a clean sweep of the Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series weekend with a thrilling $5,000 victory at Lancaster Speedway on Saturday night. For Weeks it was his third win in the six race Countdown to the Cup Championship Series. Weeks now leads Dennis 'Rambo' Franklin by 45 points as they series heads to Fayetteville Motor Speedway for the season ending Carolina Clash Bash on October 4th.

Franklin started the night off by topping the field in Mega Plumbing of the Carolina's Qualifying. Randle Chupp, who took the win in the last Carolina Clash visit to the historic 1/2 mile timed in second.

As the field took the green flag Franklin darted to the point over Chupp, Tim Allen, Weeks and Chris Ferguson. Franklin immediately began to inch away as Allen went to work on Chupp. Allen, a PBM Performance Rookie of the Year contender was hounding Chupp as Jeff Smith began to look to the inside of Weeks. The man on the move was Jonathan Davenport. After starting 18th, the Blairsville, GA native was up to sixth by lap ten.

As the leaders began to work lapped traffic, Franklin attempted to dive under Fort Mill, SC's Randy Smith. The two made contact with Franklin sliding sideways off turn four. This allowed Chupp to sweep by and take the lead on lap 20. A couple of caution periods kept the field in check through the mid-stages of the 50 lapper.

Weeks began to flex his muscle after half way as he and Davenport began using the extreme outside groove. Weeks motored around Allen for third on lap 26 and began to close in on Franklin. Smith took fourth from a fading Allen two laps later with Davenport making he move to fourth on the next lap. The two leading championship contenders waged a war for several laps with Weeks' making the move to second on lap 35.

Weeks then set his sights on the leader as he swept around the top side. He closed in on Chupp with ten laps to go and immediately began to work on the Troutman, NC resident for the point. With Weeks running the high side and Chupp around the hub the lead duo waged a war for the lead. Weeks was able to get to Chupp's quarter panel on several occasions but could not get the run off the corner to get around him.

As the lead pair entered turn three coming to the white flag, Weeks' was finally able to get the run he was looking for and swept around Chupp for the lead. Weeks' motored his Starrette Trucking/Parton Lumber Company/AFCO/Dirtwrap/Clements Racing Engines/Rocket Monte Carlo around one more time to collect the $5,000 win.

Chupp had to settle for second with Franklin third, Smith fourth and Daveport fifth.

Davenport was the Heintz Brothers Performance Hard Charger of the Race. Davenport also collected the Beaver Bail Bonds Bailed Out Award. Anthony Sanders took the Dirt Trax Motorsports $100 Hard Luck Award.

The next and final Carolina Clash event of 2008 will be the '3rd Annual Carolina Clash Bash' on October 4th at Fayetteville Motor Speedway. This will be a $9,000 to win event.
